Sonos Play leaks on Best Buy Canada ahead of March 31 launch

- Best Buy Canada leaked a listing page for a new ‘Sonos Play’ speaker.
- Published specs indicate 24 hours of battery life, an IP67 rating, and Apple AirPlay 2 support.
- The speaker is expected to launch on March 31, 2026, for CAD $399 (~$300).
An unannounced Sonos speaker, dubbed the ‘Sonos Play’, has leaked via a now-deleted listing on Best Buy Canada’s website. The portable Bluetooth speaker was listed at CAD $399.99 (~$300). It also had a reported release date of March 31, 2026, suggesting an official reveal may be imminent.
While Sonos has not confirmed the product, the listing included a full spec sheet, images, and feature details before it was pulled.
What is the Sonos Play?

Based on the retailer listing, the Sonos Play appears to be a mid-range portable speaker positioned between Sonos’ Roam 2 and Move 2. For example, the design looks like a slightly downsized Move 2, complete with a built-in carrying strap for easier transport. It supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3, allowing it to function as a traditional portable speaker or as part of a larger Sonos multi-room system with up to 32 connected components.
Support for Apple AirPlay 2 and Alexa suggests Sonos is keeping the Play fully integrated into its broader ecosystem. The inclusion of a wired input option via a USB-C adapter also makes it more versatile than many modern portable speakers, especially for users connecting turntables or other analog sources. Check out Clear Buy Canada’s published specs below:
- 24-hour battery life
- IP67 dust and water resistance
- Automatic Trueplay room tuning
- Apple AirPlay 2 support
- Amazon Alexa voice control
- USB-C charging
- Wireless charging base included
- Line-in support via USB-C adapter
- Power bank functionality for charging a phone
If accurate, this would make the Sonos Play more rugged than the Move 2, with an IP67 rating similar to the Roam 2.
A new mid-range option?

At CAD $399.99 (roughly USD $300), the Sonos Play would land squarely between Sonos’ existing portable speakers. For example, the Roam 2 is the compact, ultra-portable option with shorter battery life. Meanwhile, the Move 2 offers bigger sound and longer battery life but comes at a higher price and with a bulkier form factor. Based on the leaked specs, the Play could serve as a balanced middle ground, offering extended battery life and stronger durability without reaching Move 2 pricing.
Interestingly, the listing also claims the battery is replaceable, which could significantly extend the speaker’s lifespan compared to sealed-battery designs.
When will Sonos announce it?

The Best Buy Canada listing pointed to a March 31 release date, but Sonos has not confirmed the speaker or the timeline. Given the detailed product page and full image gallery that briefly appeared online, it seems unlikely this device is far from launch. If the date is accurate, we may not have to wait long.
