Long, long ago in a place far away, SMS Audio decided to make Star Wars themed headphones (I hate myself for that). The company with rapper 50 Cent on the payroll forged a partnership with Disney back in March that made them the official audio brand of the theme parks as well as sponsors for both the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend and the Avengers Super Hero Half Marathon weekend. With the company having already announced the second generation of Star Wars character themed headphones, it was only a matter of time before they tried to enter the Marvel Universe.

SMS Audio has been hinting in not-so-subtle ways that they will be revealing new Marvel themed headphones, and have finally announced it at a recent X-Games event as well as their Twitter. The three new headphones be based on the Avengers characters Black Widow, Captain America, and of course Iron Man complete with an Arc Reactor on each ear cup. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like one of these three is going to be way more successful than the others.

As part of the character headphone niche that SMS Audio has created for themselves, these headphones will have many of the same features and specs as their Star Wars line. They will also have removable audio cables that have in-line mics and hinges enabling them to fold easily for storage. On top of that they will be IPX4 water and sweat resistant so if you go to the gym you won’t have to take them off for fear of damaging them. Though I must admit I’m not sure if I would be annoyed at someone wearing these to the gym or extremely jealous.

Though they haven’t officially shown up on the SMS Audio website for purchase, a press release from April states that these will be expected to sell for $99 in June or July. This is almost half the cost of the Star Wars line-up which probably means that they won’t be coming with any of the cool posters or stickers we saw in the Star Wars editions, though we’ll have to wait until the products hit the site to know for sure.
