I did need to use the custom EQ to get my preferred sound, but the headphones take EQ very well. The ANC is quite good, but getting a good fit is crucial, as sometimes my thick hair and wearing a hat let sound leak causing a feedback loop that resulted in a crackling noise.

The verdict
Despite some foibles, the JBL Tour One M3 is a great showcase for the future of wireless ANC headphones. Making the most of an internal DAC and Auracast, these headphones can be used with pretty much anything at any time. Its SMART Tx accessory can even share audio with other devices.
