Apple hasn't announced its Beats 360 headphones yet, but it just updated them anyway

Apple has a big day ahead, with new iPhones and plenty of other hardware expected to take the stage. But there could be another pair of headphones waiting in the wings, and Apple may have just given us one of the clearest signs yet that they’re almost ready. According to Aaron Perris and MacRumors, Apple has released firmware version 4A203 for the still-unannounced Beats 360 headphones. Yes, Apple is updating headphones that, officially, don’t even exist yet.
The firmware doesn’t guarantee that Beats 360 will appear alongside the new iPhones today, but the timing certainly makes things interesting. At the very least, it suggests Apple is getting things ready behind the scenes ahead of a launch, which could happen sometime this month.
Of course, the Beats 360 aren’t exactly a well-kept secret at this point. We have already reported on the upcoming headphones after Beats 360 listings began popping up on Reddit. We’ve also seen them hiding in plain sight during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where football stars including Lamine Yamal and Antonee Robinson were spotted wearing them.
The Beats 360 are expected to come in Black, Cloud, Sky, and Pink, but choosing a color may only be the beginning. Apple is also expected to offer interchangeable Performance Knit and UltraPlush ear cushions and headbands, with additional Volt and Navy options.
That could make the Beats 360 considerably more fun to personalize than your typical pair of headphones. For example, you could buy the black headphones and throw on a Volt headband, or swap cushions when you want a completely different look. It’s a very Beats way of approaching headphones, and I’m here for it.
Code spotted by Aaron Perris suggests you’ll be able to call up Apple’s assistant simply by saying “Siri” or “Hey Siri,” without reaching for your phone.
The Beats 360 could be priced around $300, although that hasn’t been confirmed. That would put it below the Beats Studio Pro‘s $350 price while giving Apple another premium over-ear option that doesn’t venture into AirPods Max territory.
With retail listings, celebrity sightings, and now actual firmware all pointing toward the same headphones, there isn’t much mystery left around whether the Beats 360 are real. The bigger question now is when Apple plans to make the Beats 360 official.
