Sony WH-1000MX6 could have a new color that makes you green with envy
July 7, 2026

- Sony may soon offer a new color option for its premium WH-1000XM6 Bluetooth headphones.
- Based on import documents, the XM6s may have another color option starting with the letter “G.”
- While it could also mean Gold, a pastel Green seems to be a more likely fit based on Sony’s existing colors across various devices.
The Sony WH-1000XM6 is a great pair of Bluetooth headphones by all means, potentially only lacking in terms of hinge rigidity and earcup comfort. If you wanted Sony to work on those issues, it might not be possible until the next generation. But if it cheers you up, Sony may have a new color variant coming.
Sony already offers five colors for the headphones, including dark blue, black, silver-white, sandstone, and pink, and a new green color could join the cadre soon. This information is suggested by a “G” color variant spotted in import documents by The Walkman Blog. The source says the letter “G” here could also refer to Gold, though it would be far from Sony’s usual pick for the XM lineup — a golden variant may be a perfect fit for the more premium 1000X wireless headphones that Sony launched recently.
While there’s no clarity on the shade of green here, The Walkman Blog generated mockups using the pastel green Sony already uses on some of its existing earbuds, including the LinkBuds Clip and the LinkBuds Fit.
The paperwork does not reveal the suggested launch date for this specific color variant, and there’s no way to predict it accurately, especially since the dates go back to February 2026.
However, it’s worth noting that Sony introduced a pink color option for the older WH-1000XM5s as a mid-cycle refresh, nearly 1.5 years after the initial launch. If it follows the same track, we might see the green color before the end of 2026 (hopefully), even though there’s little certainty.
