Sony's ULT Power Sound lineup gets its 2026 refresh with three new tower speakers

- Sony has launched three new speakers in its ULT Power Sound lineup.
- The speakers come with the “ULT” button to switch between four sound modes.
- They also feature newly developed woofers and larger speaker cabinets.
Sony’s ULT Power Sound lineup of products is gaining three new wireless speakers today: the ULT Tower 5, ULT Tower 7, and ULT Tower Max. These new speakers join existing products in the ULT Power Sound lineup, such as the ULT Tower 9.
All three speakers have been co-created with acclaimed hip-hop creators, including Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius; award-winning drummer, producer, and musical director Daru Jones; record producer, songwriter, and DJ Dready; and audio engineer and producer Dennis “ROC.am” Jones.
The speakers support karaoke modes, and users can chain multiple speakers together with Sony’s “Party Chain” feature or create stereo pairs.
The speakers also come with the “ULT” button that lets users switch between four sound profiles, including deep bass, more powerful sound, a true-to-source experience, and a live-performance feel.
Sony has also switched from the X-balanced speaker design to a new circular unit for better low-frequency reproduction and has made the speaker cabinets larger as well.
ULT Tower Max
Headlining the new products is the ULT Tower Max, which packs in three woofers — two on the front and one on the back — along with a high-powered amplifier for what Sony calls “powerful bass and sound pressure.” It also comes with a 10-band EQ, four handles, and wheels for portability, new lighting modes, and multiple connectivity features, including Bluetooth as well as RCA and XLR connections.
ULT Tower 7
The ULT Tower 7 features built-in wheels and handles for portability and can deliver powerful sound with deep bass. It includes a 10-band EQ, new lighting modes, and connectivity options including Bluetooth, RCA, and XLR. It’s also IPX4 rated, so it can handle splashes of water without any trouble.
ULT Tower 5
The ULT Tower 5 is the “compact” tower speaker, though it features four handles for moving it around, an IPX4 rating for splash resistance, a 10-band EQ, and all the same connectivity options as the other speakers in the lineup.
Pricing and Availability
All three speakers are available to purchase starting this month on Sony’s official website, Amazon, and at other authorized retailers. The ULT Tower Max is priced at $1,499.99, the ULT Tower 7 at $649.99, and the ULT Tower 5 at $449.99.
