TL;DR
  • Sony has announced new esports-inspired colors for its INZONE H9 II and E9 gaming headsets.
  • These colors match the London-based professional esports team Fnatic.
  • The INZONE H9 II headphones get a new orange color, while the E9 IEMs come in a transparent purple finish.

Although Sony’s WH and MDR series are among its most popular headphones, it also offers devices specifically for gamers. While the Pulse series is specifically for the PlayStation consoles, INZONE is more platform-agnostic, catering to PC and other platforms. The newest offering in the series — the INZONE H9 II — is a premium pair of headphones from Sony rooted in the WH-1000XM6, and it’s now getting a new special edition with a standout paint job.

Today, Sony is announcing a special edition of the INZONE H9 II gaming headset, with an orange colorway borrowed from the British esports organization Fnatic. That is the same team that previously collaborated with phone brand OnePlus on a special gaming-focused performance mode on Android phones, as well as a low-latency audio mode for its early crop of earbuds.

This bumps the number of available color options to three, including the existing black and white, plus the new Fnatic Edition. Along with the earcups, the orange shade also spreads to the foam windscreen on the headset’s mic.

In addition to the same internals and noise cancellation as Sony’s flagship WH-1000XM6, the headset also offers an FPS-optimized EQ preset, but it’s not restricted to just the Fnatic Edition. There are no team-specific acoustic changes either.

Along with the INZONE H9 II, Sony is also launching a new color variant for the INZONE E9 gaming IEMs. This new Glass Purple colorway for the INZONE E9 also comes in partnership with Fnatic, and the paint job extends to the 3.5mm-to-USB-C connector that comes with the headset.

The new E9 wired earbuds with a transparent purple design join Sony’s existing pair of INZONE Buds truly wireless gaming earbuds.

The INZONE H9 II launched for $350, but is now available for $250. Likewise, the INZONE E9 is also down from $150 to $130. Sony isn’t talking about prices for these headsets, so we suspect they remain unchanged, even for the special-edition variants, but we’ll follow up with updates once we learn more.
