TL;DR
  • Sonos could be ready to launch the Sonos Roam 2 by June 2024.
  • Sonos is releasing a new app that supports the Roam 2 and its rumored high-end headphones.

You may not have to wait too much longer for the follow-up to the Sonos Roam. According to a new report, the Sonos Roam 2 could arrive in the next a couple of months.

In Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, it’s reported that the second-generation Roam could launch as soon as June 2024. This Bluetooth speaker is said to have been updated to fix the Bluetooth glitches that were present in the first model. In addition to these fixes, it appears Sonos is also giving the hardware a new touch-sensitive panel on top for music and volume control. This will reportedly be similar to what appears on the Sonos Era 100 and Era 300.

On the software side, Gurman claims Sonos is releasing a new app for its products. However, it’s noted that Sonos has had trouble with the app in terms of setting up and operating. As a result, the app will only support Sonos’s rumored headphones and the Roam 2 at first. The company reportedly plans on pushing out an update later that will expand support to the Move 1 and 2.

The original Roam was a good Bluetooth speaker that wasn’t without its faults. In our review, we noted that it was light on bass, couldn’t be used for phone calls, and had some frustrating setup hiccups. Here’s to hoping Sonos has fixed these issues with the sequel.
