The new model aims to hit the sweet spot for runners, cyclists, and outdoor workout enthusiasts who need the situational awareness of bone-conduction headsets without breaking the bank.
Announced via a press release alongside the true wireless OpenFit Air 2, the new OpenRun Air 2 refines Shokz’s signature neckband design, making it over 9% smaller than the original OpenRun and tipping the scales at just 26.4 grams. Shokz has reworked the ear hooks to better contour to the ear and shifted the center of gravity forward to reduce vertical bounce during high-impact workouts. A memory alloy frame keeps the unibody structure flexible yet snug.
On the audio front, the headset is powered by Shokz’s PremiumPitch 3.0 acoustic technology. The upgraded bone-conduction transducer utilizes an all-metal, dual-coil, dual-reed setup that promises to deliver improved low-end bass response, clearer vocals, and a more balanced overall profile than its predecessor. Listeners can further tweak the sound signature via the Shokz companion app, which provides four preset EQ profiles alongside two customizable slots.
Durability and daily convenience also receive welcome upgrades. The OpenRun Air 2 headset retains its predecessor’s rugged IP67 dust- and water-resistance rating, ensuring it can handle heavy sweat and downpours alike. Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours on a single charge, marking a 25% bump over the previous generation, with a five-minute quick top-up delivering up to two hours of playback. Better yet, charging is now handled over standard USB-C rather than a proprietary cable. For voice calls, an AI-assisted noise reduction microphone helps suppress ambient wind noise.

The Shokz OpenRun Air 2 will be available starting August 27 in the US for $129.95, directly from Shokz and select retail partners. Buyers can pick between Black and Ice Blue colorways across both Standard and Mini band sizes.
