The Pixel Buds 2a are (barely) better than the Buds Pro 2, according to poll results

Last week, I outlined my argument for why there’s no reason to buy the Pixel Buds Pro 2 now that the Pixel Buds 2a are here. The fact that the Pixel Buds 2a are $100 cheaper, while sharing nearly an identical design and feature set as the Pixel Buds Pro 2, is a no-brainer to me. That said, I was curious what you, our audience thought about the Pixel Buds 2a vs Pixel Buds Pro 2.

As of this writing, 1958 people have responded to our poll. The Pixel Buds 2a holds a slight edge with 58% of the vote, while the Pixel Buds Pro 2 has 42%.
The results are closer than I expected, so I dove into the comments to see why people are standing by the Pixel Buds Pro 2. One commentator identified the lack of head-tracking spatial audio on the Pixel Buds 2a:
- @stevon.t.matthews: The Pixel Buds 2a don’t have head tracking with Spatial audio, the buds pro 2 does 🙃
That said, there were also a lot of comments supporting the Pixel Buds 2a, such as this comment pointing out the user-replaceable battery feature unique to the Buds 2a:
- @milosz.karpowicz: You didn’t even mention the most important difference in my opinion – Buds 2a have a user-replaceable battery, while Buds Pro 2 do not
