Marshall's new Bromley 150 party speaker offers 40 hours of playback and is actually 'portable'

Marshall has a broad range of speakers, but its Bromley speakers easily outpace the rest. Despite being hailed as portable party speakers, the Bromley 750 and Bromley 450 are pretty hefty party speakers that let you play audio from a variety of wired and wireless sources. Today, Marshall is adding a third option to the series, and this one offers a little less power but a lot more convenience in terms of portability.

Despite its boxy design, the new Bromley 150 is claimed to deliver a 360º soundscape, where it delivers audio in all directions instead of just firing it in the front. For this, it uses a “patented acoustic design” inspired by professional recording equipment. The speaker packs a 6.5-inch 40W woofer, two 2.5-inch full-range drivers rated at 6W each, and a passive radiator. A 90W Class D amplifier powers the woofer, and two more 55W amps drive the full-range drivers.

The company claims a maximum sound pressure level of 95dB, a touch less than the Bromley 450, which is impressive considering its much smaller dimensions. Talking of which, the Bromley 150 measures just 290 x 290 x 208 mm and weighs only 6.5 kilos (~14.3 lbs). It gets a rugged design with the classic Marshall black-and-bronze paint job while also borrowing the stage-light feature from bigger models. The speaker is rated at IP55, offering decent water resistance, and lets you swap out the battery lid, dial caps, and buttons when they wear out.

Connectivity still remains the new speaker’s strong point, with the Bromley 150 supporting wireless audio over Bluetooth 5.3, including support for Auracast. The speaker lets you input audio via a 6.35mm jack, two XLR inputs, USB-C, and a 3.5mm AUX-in.

Marshall does not specify the battery capacity but claims the speaker can last up to 40 hours of playback. A full recharge takes roughly three hours, while a 20-minute charge offers five hours of playback. The battery, too, like the other wearable parts, is swappable.

The Marshall Bromley 150 is up for pre-order starting today and will be available to buy starting October 13. The speaker is priced at $499.99 in the US.
