Marshall Bromley 450 launches with 40-hour battery and 360-degree sound

Marshall has introduced the Bromley 450, a portable Bluetooth party speaker designed for long listening sessions and medium-sized gatherings. Priced at €649 (~$746), the speaker sits below the larger Bromley 750 and is available now through Marshall’s website. Broader retail availability starts March 31.

The Bromley 450 focuses on endurance and versatility, with Marshall claiming over 40 hours of battery life on a single charge. The speaker also supports quick charging, with just 20 minutes delivering up to six hours of playback. The speaker uses the same swappable battery as the Bromley 750, meaning you can swap packs during longer events. Like before, the Bromley 450 features brass accents, tactile control knobs, and a metal grille that houses integrated lighting effects. According to the company, these lights draw inspiration from 1970s concert stage setups and include three modes: ambient lighting and two music-reactive options.

On the audio side, the Bromley 450 uses what Marshall calls a “True Stereophonic” system to deliver 360-degree sound. Instead of projecting audio forward, the speaker distributes sound in all directions using multiple drivers placed around the cabinet. The internal setup includes two 6.5-inch woofers, four 2-inch full-range drivers, and two passive radiators, powered by six Class-D amplifiers. Marshall lists a frequency range of 42Hz to 20kHz, with a maximum sound pressure level of around 100dB at one meter. That should be enough for most barbecues or indoor gatherings, but likely not powerful enough for very large spaces.

Connectivity is another strong point. The Bromley 450 supports Bluetooth 5.3 with Auracast and Multipoint pairing. You can also connect via AUX, RCA, or USB-C. The back panel reveals two XLR inputs for microphones or instruments. That opens the door for karaoke sessions or small live performances, making the speaker more versatile than typical party-focused options. The speaker measures 360 x 261 x 492mm and weighs 12.2kg, so while it’s portable, it’s not something you’ll casually carry around all day. An IP55 rating adds some peace of mind for outdoor use, offering protection against dust and water splashes.

Marshall is entering a competitive space here. Alternatives such as the JBL PartyBox 710 and LG XBOOM XL7S all target similar use cases with built-in lighting and microphone support. Based on the specs, the Bromley 450 stands out for its battery life and swappable design, though its 100dB output suggests it’s best suited to medium-sized gatherings rather than larger events. If battery longevity and flexibility matter most, the Bromley 450 looks like a compelling addition to Marshall’s growing party speaker lineup.
