Logitech to acquire Blue Microphones
In a blog post, Logitech announced an agreement for $117 million to purchase the manufacturer of the famed Yeti, Blue Microphones. Said deal will place Logitech atop the bargain condenser microphone market, as Blue has several of the most popular USB mic models. Though the deal is not final, it appears there won’t be much regulatory difficulties ahead for the merger.
While Logitech was known for their gaming and computer peripherals, it never really made a splash in the personal microphone market. This caps off a series of moves to bolster Logitech’s presence in the personal audio market, as it previously purchased Jaybird for $50 million dollars in late 2017.
It’s unclear what, if any, changes will come of the business deal for Blue. However, Logitech’s move pits the computer peripheral company in closer competition with Razer—who have also seen success in the personal audio market.
