TL;DR
  • JBL has announced the Tour Pro 3 wireless earbuds.
  • These earbuds bring a charging case with a larger touchscreen, allowing you to check media playback, view incoming calls, and more.
  • Expect to pay $299 for the new earbuds when they go on sale in September.

JBL launched the Tour Pro 2 back in January 2023, standing out from most wireless earbuds thanks to the touchscreen in the charging case. Now, the company has launched the Tour Pro 3, and it indeed picks up where the previous buds left off.

Sure enough, the JBL Tour Pro 3 brings a charging case with a touchscreen once again. However, the screen is slightly larger this time (1.57-inches versus 1.45-inches). Nevertheless, you can access your Spotify account, check the time, set an alarm, view the currently playing song, and view incoming calls/messages, check your battery status, and more. The charging case also offers Auracast capabilities and lets you transmit audio from a 3.5mm or USB-C source with the aid of included cables. The latter option is handy if the target device doesn’t have Bluetooth, such as an airplane entertainment system or non-smart TV.

What about the actual earbuds, though? Expect spatial audio support, LDAC audio support, JBL’s Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0 tech, and six microphones. Other notable features include Google Fast Pair capabilities, Microsoft Swift Pair support, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Battery life is another important metric for wireless earbuds, and the JBL Tour Pro 3 brings up to 10 hours of playback with noise cancelation disabled plus 30 additional hours via the charging case. Enable noise cancelation and you can expect eight hours of juice and 24 more hours via the charging case. JBL’s product also offers three hours of playback with a 10-minute charge.

Interested in the JBL Tour Pro 3? Then it’ll be available from next month for $299. That represents a premium over the $250 Tour Pro 2. So you might want to check out the older model at a discounted price if you don’t care about the new additions.
