After the recent leak of the Audeze Maxwell 2, we asked SoundGuys readers which upgrades matter most in the next-gen model. With 575 votes in so far, the results are clear: by a wide margin, readers want the Maxwell 2 to be lighter.

The overwhelming majority of responses for a lightweight build reflect longstanding feedback about the original Maxwell. While it delivers excellent sound quality, it feels heavy on the head at 490g, especially during extended play sessions. A lighter weight would go a long way toward improving long-term comfort.

With the leaked imagery showing updated pads, venting, and a revised headband, Audeze may already be addressing some areas of comfort. But whether the Maxwell 2 actually brings a lighter frame is the upgrade readers are watching for most closely. We’d also expect improvements to sidetone clarity and simultaneous dongle-and-Bluetooth audio, which has become increasingly common in modern gaming headsets.
