The JBL Boombox 4 is only $50 more than the Xtreme 5 right now

Summer is almost here, and if you’ve been looking for a Bluetooth speaker to bring to the beach or your next backyard barbecue, now is a pretty good time to grab one. The JBL Boombox 4 is currently $100 off at Amazon, dropping the price from $549.95 to $449.95.

What makes this deal particularly interesting is how close the Boombox 4 now sits to the JBL Xtreme 5. At its regular price, the Boombox 4 is in a completely different tier of portable speaker. Right now, though, it’s only about $50 more expensive than the Xtreme 5, making the step up a lot easier to justify.

I’ve spent a lot of time with JBL’s portable speakers over the years, and the Boombox 4 is one of my favorites. It’s big, sure, but that’s kind of the point. The larger enclosure gives JBL more room to work with, resulting in stronger bass, higher output, and the kind of room-filling sound that’s hard to get from smaller portable speakers.
If you were already considering the JBL Xtreme 5, I’d take a serious look at this deal. Spending an extra $50 for the Boombox 4 gets you a noticeably bigger speaker and a more powerful listening experience, especially outdoors. Honestly, if I were choosing between the two at these prices, I’d have a hard time passing up the Boombox 4.
