Both the popular SM7B and SM7dB microphones are on sale leading up to Black Friday. The discount is $40 off the SM7B, now $399 at Amazon from $439. The SM7dB, on the other hand, is now $499 at Amazon, down from $549.

A legendary mic used by legendary performers.
The Shure SM7B is beloved by professional musicians for its reliable performance, top-grade construction, and noise attenuating technology that lends itself to clear recordings. This isn’t a mic for those making their first foray into recording, rather it’s for aspiring professionals and industry veterans. The uniform frequency response is excellent for all ranges of recording, and the alternative responses are fitting for other studio needs.

At first glance, those discounts might look like a good deal if you’re looking for a microphone that can outlast you. And while they are better than the price they typically go for, I’m going to burst your bubble; these “sale” prices are simply a return to MSRP.  Now the base price increase was due to inflation, as well as the rise in the cost of manufacturing and logistics. The US tariffs most likely expedited the price increase, and to their credit, the increase isn’t as bad as it could be. So it’s nice to see a return to the original MSRP.

Even still, there are better deals available if you’re looking for vocal mics for streaming or podcasting. Try checking out the Rode microphones $244.9 at Amazon that have a pop of color that matches your setup. You can also get what I consider to be the greatest stage mic available with the Shure SM58, instead $99 at Amazon.
