When picking a great party speaker, you often have to choose between portability and high volume. There aren’t many options that pack a punch in a small, easy-to-carry size. However, Soundboks wants to change that with its new speaker.
The Danish company has launched the Soundboks Rider — its lightest and smallest speaker yet. The Rider weighs just 6.3kg, making it easier to carry than any other speaker the company makes and most of the huge party speakers on the market. It’s also small enough to carry in your arms. Despite its compact footprint and light weight, the speaker can get quite loud. The company claims it can push out up to 118 dB of audio.
The Soundboks Rider also offers up to 35 hours of battery life at moderate volume, or around 8 hours at max volume. It uses the same swappable, USB-C fast-charging battery found in other Soundboks speakers. So if you have a few lying around, you can easily swap them in and keep the party going.
It’s IP66-rated for water and dust resistance and comes with a steel grille along with the company’s signature shock-resistant ball corners for added durability.

The speaker features three built-in sound profiles: Bass Plus for maximum low-end punch, Indoor for indoor listening, and Outdoor for partying out in the open. Plus, the Soundboks app lets users adjust these profiles or create custom ones using a six-band equalizer.
The Soundboks Rider includes a built-in carrying handle and supports the optional Soundboks shoulder strap. It’s priced at $599 and is available directly from the Soundboks website.
