Sonos Ace Ultra leak hints at major ANC and battery upgrades, but with a pricing surprise

Sonos is gearing up to launch its next pair of premium over-ear headphones, the Sonos Ace Ultra, with leaks suggesting a noticeable spec bump, improved battery life, and an aggressive launch price. Following early leaks that hinted at the updated headphones, a comprehensive leak has now laid bare the hardware upgrades, colorways, and retail launch timeline for the upcoming flagship headphones.
According to Dealabs, the Sonos Ace Ultra is slated for an official announcement on September 1, 2026, with general retail availability starting on September 29. The headphones are expected to retail for $449 in the US, £399 in the UK, and €449 across Europe. Notably, US pricing could match the original Sonos Ace launch price of $449, positioning the Ace Ultra more competitively against heavyweight rivals such as the Sony WH-1000XM6 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra.
On the hardware front, the Ace Ultra appears set to address several criticisms leveled at its predecessor. The report highlights an upgraded active noise cancelation (ANC) system that is claimed to be up to twice as effective as the original model, and comes with an Aware mode.
Battery life is also said to be getting a notable bump, seemingly stretching to 35 hours of continuous playback with ANC enabled (up from 30 hours on the first-gen Ace). Fast charging could also see an upgrade, reportedly delivering up to three hours of listening time from a brief three-minute charge.
Visually, the Ace Ultra could retain Sonos’ minimalist aesthetic while incorporating deeper ear cups, revised microphone grilles, and a shift toward touch controls rather than purely physical button clusters. The pad and the battery on the headphones are also said to be replaceable. Sonos is also said to be refining the ecosystem handoff experience when pairing the headphones with its soundbars.
Alongside the standard Black and White finishes, the Ace Ultra will reportedly introduce a new Agave colorway, described as a subtle blue-green tone. With September just around the corner, we likely won’t have to wait long to see how Sonos plans to shake up the consumer headphone segment.
