If you want a truly premium in-ear headphone experience, Shure has just released a new product that may be up your alley— if you have the money for it. The Shure KSE1500 Electrostatic Earphone System is now available for a whopping $2,999.

While electrostatic technology has been used inside speakers and headphones, the Shure KSE1500 is the first product that uses that technology inside thin in-ear headphones. The electrostatic drivers inside each earbud have a thin diaphragm that is drawn and suspended between two conductive plates. Since those plates are so small and light, the electrostatic-based tech can offer a more detailed audio experience. The earbuds use Kevlar-reinforced cable along with a six-pin LEMO connector.

Along with the earphone features, the Shure KSE1500 includes a powerful amplifier that can act as a digital-analog convertor. It allows owners to customize their audio experience in detail, or with preset that are available quickly, such as flat, low boost, vocal boost, loudness and a de-esser. It also includes a display screen that lets you see things like the volume and battery levels, EQ settings, and more. It comes with a number of accessories too, including a protective case, earphone sleeves, and more.
