Quad re-imagines accessible Hi-Fi with the new Elegan loudspeaker line

If you’ve been on the search for new speakers to fulfill your entertainment needs, there are a couple of new options to keep an eye out for. British audio brand Quad has just launched two speakers, and they aim to deliver high-end performance without the price tag to match.

Quad has introduced the Elegan series, which consists of the Elegan 1 and Elegan 2. The Elegan 1 is a bookshelf speaker, while the Elegan 2 is a floorstanding speaker. They are meant to be the spiritual successors to the company’s L series. Both are also built with the company’s woven Kevlar driver technology, which Quad says offers the “ideal combination of low mass, rigidity, and controlled self-damping.”

The Elegan 1 features two-way architecture, combining a 16.5cm mid/bass driver with a 25mm fabric-dome tweeter. The company says that this compact loudspeaker is made for “smaller listening rooms, apartments, and dedicated two-channel systems.” It’s also designed to minimize unwanted resonance by using high-density MDF and strategically positioned internal bracing.

Meanwhile, the Elegan 2 is a three-way design, pairing two 16.5cm bass drivers with a 12.5cm midrange driver and a 25mm fabric-dome tweeter. Opposite of the Elegan 1, the Elegan 2 is meant for “larger rooms and listeners seeking full-range performance.” However, like the Elegan 1, this floor speaker also features extensive bracing and resonance control.

The Elegan 1 and 2 are available on Quad’s website. You’ll have your choice of a Matte Black or Walnut finish. The compact speaker comes with a price tag of $995, while the floorstanding speaker will cost $1,995.
