The verdict

The JBL PartyBox Encore Essential is a capable, compact speaker that delivers solid party vibes, but its lack of modern features like Auracast support, USB-C charging, and limited battery life clearly shows its age. While it still works well as a standalone speaker or in a stereo pair, you don’t need to stretch your budget much to find a newer option that offers better overall value.
