Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced Pulse Elevate, its first wireless desktop speakers built specifically for gaming. The speakers extend PlayStation audio beyond headsets. They were revealed during the latest State of Play broadcast and are slated for a 2026 launch.
Pulse Elevate uses the same planar magnetic driver technology found in Sony’s Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds, promising good sound quality across a wide frequency range. Optimized for use with PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, the speakers aim to deliver positional audio that enhances immersion in supported games.
Connectivity is handled via PlayStation Link, Sony’s proprietary low-latency, lossless wireless protocol, offering synchronized audio for PS5, PC, Mac, and PlayStation Portal. A USB-C dongle is included, and Bluetooth compatibility enables multi-device audio—such as simultaneous game and voice chat streams.
The Pulse Elevate also includes a built-in microphone in the right speaker. This setup uses AI-enhanced noise rejection to isolate speech and suppress background noise. It should allow users to communicate without a headset, targeting players who prefer an open-ear desktop experience.
While clearly designed for desktop setups, Sony has prioritized portability. The Pulse Elevate features a rechargeable battery and ships with charging docks for stationary use. Combined with Bluetooth and PlayStation Link support, it can be paired with a smartphone or PlayStation Portal for portable gaming.
The physical design supports flexible positioning, with built-in tilt adjustment that allows the speakers to angle upward—an ergonomic touch that should help better direct sound toward the user in various desk setups. Physical controls for volume, mic mute, and EQ adjustments are included, with deeper customization options available on PS5 and PC through system menus.
Pulse Elevate will launch in Midnight Black and White. Pricing and exact dimensions have not been disclosed, but I expect them to be on the expensive side.
