New Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 aim to solve two of our main issues with the originals

Sleep earbuds have a fine margin to work with. They need to be small enough for side sleeping, comfortable enough to wear all night, and reliable enough that you aren’t fumbling with Bluetooth at 2 AM. Ozlo is now taking a second run at that formula with the Sleepbuds 2, a $279 pair that promises longer battery life and fewer connectivity headaches.
According to Fast Company, the new Sleepbuds look almost identical to the original model, aside from a button inside the charging case. That button can start or stop Ozlo’s built-in ambient sounds, while also doubling as a snooze control for the alarm.
Most of the changes are under the hood. Ozlo now claims up to 14 hours of battery life, compared with 10 hours for the first generation, and says a new data pin should improve communication between the earbuds and their case. That is intended to make the initial pairing process faster and less finicky, potentially addressing one of the main complaints in our review of the original Sleepbuds.
Which feature annoys you most?
The company has also added updated audio hardware for more detailed EQ adjustments, including dedicated modes for podcasts and airplane use. Revised activity sensors are said to improve sleep tracking, while the charging case continues to monitor environmental factors such as room noise, light, and temperature.
Some of the limitations remain. The Sleepbuds 2 still lack active noise canceling, with Ozlo arguing that ANC isn’t effective enough against unpredictable sounds such as snoring to justify making the earbuds larger. The Fast Company reviewer disagreed, finding AirPods Pro 2 more effective at blocking out random snoring, while also reporting some discomfort from the Sleepbuds 2 after wearing them overnight.
That comfort experience may vary considerably from user to user. We found the original Ozlo Sleepbuds comfortable enough to recommend for side sleepers, although our review also criticized their awkward pairing and more limited battery life. The new model appears to directly address those two issues, but we’ll need to test it ourselves before judging whether the upgrades justify another premium price.
