The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are two years old, but Google just made them better

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are already two years old, but they’re getting some fresh attention alongside the Pixel 11 series, Pixel Watch 5, and Pixel Tag. There’s a new color to tempt buyers, but the more useful upgrade is one existing owners will get for free.

The earbuds now come in a new Olive color variant, matching the finish available across some of Google’s other new hardware. I’m a sucker for gadgets that look like they belong together, and a matching Pixel 11, Pixel Watch 5, and pair of Buds could make for a pretty slick setup. It also helps that Olive is easily one of the better-looking shades in this year’s lineup.

Beyond the new look, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are getting smarter about noise cancelation. A software update will allow ANC to adjust based on how the earbuds are sitting in your ears. That matters because a bud can shift slightly while you’re running, lifting weights, or even rushing through a crowded station, potentially weakening the seal and letting more outside noise creep in.

The earbuds should now adapt as that fit changes, keeping ANC more consistent without you having to readjust them constantly. Better still, this isn’t exclusive to the shiny new Olive pair. The update is rolling out to Pixel Buds Pro 2 in every color.

So, while Olive might be the part that catches your eye, improved ANC is the part that actually makes this refresh worthwhile. If you already own the Pixel Buds Pro 2, yours are about to get a little better without costing you anything.
