Looking to get a better night's sleep? The DUVA ONE sleep earbuds might be the secret

Sleep earbuds usually solve one fairly specific problem: keeping unwanted sound out of your ears while you’re trying to sleep. DUVA thinks there’s room to do considerably more.
Making its debut at IFA 2026, the DUVA ONE is a new sleep-focused wearable system built around a pair of unusually small wireless earbuds, but the earbuds are only one part of the package. DUVA combines overnight audio, active noise canceling, sleep sensing, environmental monitoring, and a sensor-equipped charging case in an attempt to create a system that can understand both the person wearing it and the room they’re sleeping in.
The important distinction is that DUVA ONE isn’t simply supposed to collect a bunch of information for you to look at the following morning. The system is designed to respond to changing conditions while you’re still asleep, potentially adjusting its noise control or masking audio when it detects a disruption.
The DUVA ONE earbuds are designed for side sleepers

For any pair of sleep earbuds, all of the technology becomes irrelevant if they’re uncomfortable after an hour against your pillow.
DUVA has consequently made physical size one of the central parts of the ONE’s design. Each earbud weighs no more than 3.3g, including the ear tip and stabilizer wing. The body is 9.9mm thick excluding the nozzle, while the portion facing the pillow is designed to protrude no more than 3.5mm.
Those dimensions are intended to reduce the pressure that can occur when a traditional earbud gets pushed farther into your ear as you lie on your side.
Fit is also more customizable than what you’ll find with many wireless earbuds. The DUVA ONE comes with a variety of ear tip and stabilizer sizes, and is expected to offer at least 40 possible fit combinations.
That may prove particularly important here because fit affects more than comfort. A good seal can influence passive noise isolation and ANC performance, while DUVA ONE also needs its in-ear sensors to maintain appropriate contact throughout the night.
The system includes fit and seal detection that can identify when the position of the earbud or selected ear tip may be compromising comfort, noise control, or sensor performance.
DUVA takes a three-layer approach to nighttime noise

Noise control is where DUVA ONE starts to differentiate itself from simpler sleep earplugs.
Instead of relying entirely on passive isolation or masking sounds, the earbuds combine three approaches: the physical isolation created by the ear tips, Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation, and optional sound masking.
The idea is that those systems can work together depending on what’s happening around you.
DUVA says it has focused specifically on common nighttime sounds, including snoring, road traffic, air conditioning, hotel noise, and noisy neighbors. The current engineering target places particular emphasis on frequencies between 70Hz and 250Hz, where a lot of low-frequency nighttime noise can occur.
DUVA is targeting a peak combined noise reduction of 42dB, which is in line with the typical noise canceling performance of premium wireless earbuds.
What’s potentially more interesting than the maximum reduction figure is how DUVA ONE responds when the environment changes.
An optional Snore Response Mode uses the charging case to monitor noise in the room. If it detects what the system identifies as likely snoring or sound above a user-selected threshold, DUVA ONE can respond by enabling ANC and playing masking audio according to the user’s preferences.
That means you wouldn’t necessarily have to leave maximum noise cancelation and masking audio running throughout the entire night just because your partner might start snoring at 3AM.
It’s a good example of the broader concept behind DUVA ONE: rather than asking the user to choose one sleep setting at bedtime and hope it works for the next eight hours, the system is designed to adapt as conditions change.
The charging case listens to the room, without recording your conversations

The most unusual piece of the DUVA ONE system might actually be its charging case.
When placed near your bed, sensors in the case monitor four environmental conditions: noise level, ambient light, temperature, and humidity. DUVA says the case is designed to take environmental readings approximately once per minute and retain roughly one week of data before it needs to synchronize that information with the app over Bluetooth.
In theory, that could give you more context than a typical sleep tracker. Knowing that you woke up several times during the night is useful, but knowing that those awakenings coincided with a rise in room temperature or an increase in environmental noise could be more actionable.
DUVA is careful not to claim that the system can identify the definitive cause of a poor night’s sleep. Instead, the app is supposed to show relationships and patterns that users can interpret over time.
The bedroom microphone may raise an obvious privacy question, so it’s worth clarifying what DUVA says it does. According to the company, the case processes sound levels and limited acoustic characteristics. It isn’t designed to record conversations, store audio recordings, or upload raw audio. Individual environmental monitoring functions can also be disabled from the app.
The earbuds track movement, heart rate, and sleep-related signals

While the case watches the room, sensors inside the earbuds gather information about the person wearing them.
A three-axis motion sensor detects movement, sleeping position, and turning throughout the night. An in-ear PPG sensor is designed to collect heart rate and HRV-related signals for personal wellness insights.
DUVA says the app may use that information to provide estimates for sleep and wake times, nighttime awakenings, movement frequency, sleeping position distribution, and time spent in estimated Awake, REM, Light Sleep, and Deep Sleep stages.
Heart-related information can include average, minimum, and resting heart rate, along with HRV trends such as RMSSD. Seven-day and 30-day trends are also planned to make it easier to spot longer-term patterns.
There is an important limitation here: DUVA ONE isn’t a medical device, and these features aren’t intended to diagnose, treat, or monitor medical conditions. Sleep-stage estimates from consumer wearables should also be treated as estimates rather than definitive measurements. What interests us more about DUVA ONE is the combination of that information with environmental data and the device’s ability to change its behavior during the same night. Together, this information could help you monitor and improve the quality of your sleep.
DUVA ONE can respond before you wake up
Most sleep trackers are retrospective. You wake up, check an app, and find out what supposedly happened while you were asleep.
DUVA wants ONE to play a more active role.
The system is designed to combine information about sleep state, movement, heart rate and HRV-related signals, room conditions, previous sleep patterns, user habits, and direct feedback.
Based on that context, DUVA says its software may offer relaxation exercises before bed, recommend sleep audio, adjust playback and noise control, or provide low-disruption support if you wake during the night.
For example, if the system believes you’re taking longer than usual to fall asleep, it could potentially adjust what you’re listening to rather than waiting until the following morning to tell you that you took a long time to fall asleep.
Likewise, environmental sensors could detect changing noise levels while the earbuds respond with a different combination of ANC and masking audio.
Local audio should make overnight playback more reliable
One of the less flashy DUVA ONE features could be one of the most useful.
The earbuds support both normal Bluetooth audio and locally stored stereo sleep audio.
The advantage of local playback is that the earbuds don’t need to maintain a continuous connection with your phone throughout the night. DUVA says locally stored audio can loop seamlessly without obvious pauses, clicks, or sudden volume changes.
Smart Power Management can also change how the earbuds operate once you fall asleep.
Depending on the selected mode, DUVA ONE may stop Bluetooth streaming, switch over to stored audio, adjust ANC, or reduce power consumption by disabling functions that aren’t needed. Users who enable Snore Response Mode can keep ANC available so the earbuds remain ready to react to noise.
DUVA rates battery life at up to 16 hours in Sleep Mode, which should provide plenty of headroom for a normal night even as the battery ages.
The charging case is designed to provide at least five complete earbud recharges and supports both USB-C and wireless charging.
A private alarm could be great for couples
DUVA has also thought about what happens at the other end of the night.
The Private Alarm plays directly through the earbuds rather than sounding an alarm through your phone’s speaker.
That’s an obvious advantage for couples with different schedules. If one person needs to wake up at 6AM while the other can sleep until 8AM, an alarm delivered directly to the wearer’s ears could avoid waking both people.
DUVA says the alarm works offline and supports multiple alarms, a gradual increase in volume, and configurable snooze settings.
Together with local audio storage, these features show that DUVA is thinking about overnight reliability rather than treating the ONE like a normal Bluetooth earbud that happens to be small enough to wear to bed.
The DUVA app connects everything together
The DUVA app acts as the control center for the entire system.
It brings together earbud settings, environmental readings, sleep information, historical trends, and personalization features. Rather than presenting earbud data and room data as completely separate information, DUVA wants to show how they may relate to one another.
You could potentially see, for example, when you woke up alongside what the temperature, humidity, noise, or light levels were at the same point in the night.
The longer-term goal is to help users identify patterns. Perhaps you consistently sleep more restlessly once the room gets warmer, or outside traffic regularly increases around the same time you’re waking.
Again, those relationships shouldn’t be interpreted as medical conclusions or proof of cause and effect. But they could give users more information when adjusting their bedroom environment or nightly routine.
DUVA ONE isn’t trying to be a normal pair of wireless earbuds
The easiest way to understand DUVA ONE is to look at what it isn’t.
This isn’t simply a tiny pair of Bluetooth earbuds designed for people who occasionally fall asleep while listening to music. And DUVA doesn’t appear to be positioning it as just the next generation of its previous SomniPods concept.
Instead, the company is attempting to connect several categories of sleep technology that have traditionally existed separately.
Earplugs block sound. White noise machines mask it. Wireless earbuds play audio. Smart rings and watches track sleep. Environmental sensors measure your bedroom.
DUVA ONE tries to combine elements of all of those into a single connected system, while adding the ability to respond during the night.
That’s a considerably more complicated product to get right.
The earbuds need to remain comfortable when pressed against a pillow. The ANC has to meaningfully reduce the noises that actually bother people at night. Sensors need reliable contact. Battery life has to last until morning. The case needs to understand what’s happening in the room without becoming intrusive. And the software has to provide useful interventions without disturbing the person it’s supposed to help sleep.
If DUVA can pull all of that together successfully, the ONE could offer something meaningfully different from both conventional wireless earbuds and passive sleep products.

DUVA ONE is making its public debut at IFA 2026, with the full product launch currently planned for October.
DUVA’s working product materials list a target retail price of $349.99, with availability planned for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, and Australia. Final pricing, availability, and promotional details are still being confirmed ahead of the official launch.
