Earlier this year, I outlined three headphones I would consider buying instead of the Apple AirPods Max. My selections included:
I made my case for each, including price, features, and customizability. Additionally, I was curious to see what you, our readers, had to say, so I included a poll to show which headphones our audience would buy instead of the AirPods Max.

The chart above shows our poll results as of August 20, 2025. Out of 722 poll respondents, the Sony WH-1000XM6 are the top choice. In second place are the JBL Tour One M3 headphones with 32% of the vote, while the budget JLab JBuds Lux ANC attained 18% of the vote. Only 8% of our audience would choose a different headphone.
