Bandcamp Friday hits $154 million payout for artists and labels since 2020
Dec 31, 2025 — 10:59 AM ET

- Bandcamp has revealed that it has paid out $154 million to artists and labels since 2020.
- This payment comes from the company’s Bandcamp Friday initiative, which launched in March 2020.
- Bandcamp has already paid out $19 million in 2025 alone.
Direct-to-fan music platform Bandcamp has announced that artists and labels have been paid out $154 million since 2020. This is thanks to its Bandcamp Friday initiative, which waives the company’s revenue share, allowing musicians and labels to keep 100% of music and merch sales. For reference, Bandcamp typically takes a 15% split of digital sales and 10% of physical goods.
The latest figure represents a $31 million increase from May 2024, when the company reported payouts of $123 million. Similarly, this year’s Bandcamp Friday has already generated $19 million, with December’s event generating more than $3.8 million in 24 hours. This marks the highest single-day total of 2025. Overall, Bandcamp has paid out $1.5 billion to artists and labels. The company’s general manager, Dan Melnick, said, “Five years on, Bandcamp Fridays continue to show just how powerful direct fan support can be… we’re incredibly excited to bring even more opportunities to the community in 2026.”
The platform plans to run eight Bandcamp Fridays in 2026: February 6, March 6, May 1, August 7, September 4, October 2, November 6, and December 4. This will run alongside the company’s ‘Bandcamp Clubs’ monthly, subscribe-to-own subscription tier.
