TL;DR
  • ASUS has launched the ROG Gjallar Gaming Soundbar.
  • The soundbar offers a 2.1.2 surround sound experience with Dolby Atmos.
  • It also comes with a control hub that allows you to adjust volume, playback, EQ profiles, RGB lighting, and input sources.

If you want quality audio from your games, your monitor’s tiny speakers aren’t going to cut it. To experience the rich sound you desire, you’re going to either need a good pair of headphones or a quality stereo setup. For those interested in the latter, ASUS has just released a new soundbar that’s a part of its Republic of Gamers (ROG) lineup.

Expanding further into gaming audio, ASUS has launched the ROG Gjallar Gaming Soundbar. In case you need help with the name, it’s pronounced “ga-lar,” like the Gjallarhorn from Norse mythology. This new piece of equipment includes a compact soundbar, a subwoofer, and an all-in-one audio control hub.

ASUS states that the compact form of the soundbar will allow it to fit nicely right under any display. It also includes a strip of RGB lighting in the middle, because what says gamer more than RGB lights?

Diving into the specs, the soundbar features left and right full-range drivers, two dedicated tweeters, and two up-firing channels that can be turned off. Along with Dolby Atmos support, this soundbar can deliver an immersive 2.1.2 surround sound experience. You’ll find a variety of connectivity options here, including USB-C, HDMI 2.1 (eARC), optical, AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3.

Moving on to the subwoofer, it 6.5-inch 65-watt wireless device. It measures 35cm tall and 30cm long, and offers 5GHz wireless connectivity for low-latency audio.

The final part of the system is the audio control hub. This hub will give you control over the volume, playback, EQ profiles, RGB lighting, and input sources. The dial also contains an LCD display, allowing you to see the audio status. It also features built-in acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) microphones. ASUS says these microphones can help filter out teammate voices and in-game sound so you can communicate clearly.

The ROG Gjallar Gaming Soundbar is compatible with PC, Mac, mobile devices, and all three major consoles. For now, it appears ASUS is holding on to pricing details and availability.
