Apple just unveiled the AirPods Pro 3, its first major update to the Pro lineup since 2022. The new model introduces real-time translation, on-device fitness tracking, and an overhauled active noise cancelation (ANC) system. Priced at $249, the earbuds will be available starting September 19, 2025.
The AirPods Pro 3 integrate several hardware and software improvements aimed at enhancing the listening and user experience. Key highlights include foam-infused eartips that should provide better noise isolation, and redesigned ANC microphones that Apple claims deliver significantly improved performance. According to Apple, the new ANC system adapts dynamically and reduces more external sound than previous models.
Also new is Apple Intelligence-powered live translation, which uses gesture controls for activation. The feature automatically lowers the volume of speakers and plays back translated speech in the user’s native language, adjusting based on when the wearer starts speaking. Notably, both participants must wear their own pair of AirPods Pro 3—shared listening isn’t supported for this feature, similar to the implementation of Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

Fit and comfort have also been reengineered. Apple says it analyzed over 10,000 ear scans to inform the new design. The earbuds are smaller and now come with five ear tip sizes (up from three). They are also IP57-rated for water and dust resistance for better durability during workouts.
For fitness tracking, the AirPods Pro 3 include a built-in heart rate sensor and use an on-device AI model to track workout types and estimate calories burned. This sensor looks similar to what was used in the Powerbeats Pro 2. Users subscribed to Apple Fitness+ will receive additional analytics and workout insights via the earbuds.
Battery life has been improved across the board. The AirPods Pro 3 now deliver 8 hours of listening with ANC enabled and up to 10 hours in transparency mode—a notable increase from the previous generation’s 6-hour maximum.
