With the popularity of Bluetooth speakers, they go to more and more places with us, but not all of them are built to go everywhere. No matter how wireless our peripherals get, water and electronics still don’t mix well. Over the years, many manufacturers implemented waterproofing and Soundfreaq joins that lineup today. Today, Soundfreaq announced the Sound Kick 2 as their first water resistant Bluetooth speaker.

Of course, with a “2” in the name, the Sound Kick 2 is an update of the Sound Kick. Soundfreaq refreshed their model with fuller sound and enhanced bass, which was made possible with a passive radiator. Accompanying the enhanced bass are the 2.3 inch speaker drivers. The driver are custom made to be compatible with Soundfreaq’s proprietary UQ3 spatial enhancement system. Additionally, the Sound Kick 2 contains Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities with up to 8 hours of playback. It even has a USB port to power your devices throughout the day and a 3.5 mm input.

As far as build quality, the Sound Kick 2 certainly has some sort of decent build quality because it features IPX4 water-resistance rating and also features a steel grill and rounded edges. Soundfreaq did a lot more than give us a reboot; they gave us a reboot plus the ability to take our music to more places. The Sound Kick 2 is available for $99 at Target and their website.
