Soniq releases the Rock 7 Bluetooth speaker
Australia based company Soniq has a wide range of products ranging from 3D glasses to Hi-Fi sound systems and have now added a new Bluetooth speaker to their wide range of products. Appropriately named the Rock 7, it has an aluminum alloy body and is wrapped in a durable silicone that Soniq says makes it both shock resistant and water resistant. This doesn’t mean water-proof so I still would avoid submerging it anywhere, but at least you can take it to the beach with some peace of mind.
Similar in shape to the JBL Charge speakers, the Soniq Rock 7 seems to be aimed at a slightly different kind of consumer. With the rugged look and build quality, this speaker is for those who live an active life when not sitting at the office. There is a built-in LED night light and it comes with a metallic carabiner clip so it can easily strap up to your backpack on a long hike or challenging climb. It comes with an 8 hour battery life which is fairly standard in Bluetooth speakers, but it would’ve been nice to see a little extra juice for those all-day adventures. It also has a microphone for handsfree calls and built-in controls along the side so you don’t have to go fumbling for your phone every time you want to skip to the next track.
The Soniq Rock 7 costs $129 and is available in three colors: black, blue, and green. Assuming your outdoor excursions don’t last more than 8 hours at a time, this is a durable alternative to some other speakers in the same price range.
