Beats by Dre isn’t the only audio company that has realized the potential of utilizing pro athletes to market their products. Earlier today, Sol Republic announced that it has recruited legendary golfer Tiger Woods as their next partner in crime. Tiger is one of the highest paid athletes of all time and adding him to the “Saviors of Sound” can only help the company compete against rivals in the audio industry.

Although Sol Republic has a large list of musicians already on board, they are also beginning to build up a solid resume of athletes. Among others, Tiger Woods will be joining X-Games medalist Nate Adams and Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps at Sol Republic. The company is most known for their Sol Republic Tracks HD headphones which allow the buyer to slip off the actual ear cups and interchange the headband. This feature allows for a multitude of customization options so at the very least I expect to see a Tiger Woods headband to go along with the limited edition Julian Wilson one that is currently on the Sol Republic site.

There has yet to be a custom pair of Tiger headphones announced, but with a big name like Tiger Woods it can only be a matter of time. Michael Phelps already has his own custom pair of headphones called “The Anthem” which, naturally, come in red, white, and blue. Woods has already partnered with Nike for sneakers, Tag Heuer to make a watch back in 2005, and General Mills for his morning cereal. Soon he will be able to scratch headphones off of his to-do list as well.

Sol Republic has clearly been putting a lot of time and money into who wears their products, but that doesn’t change how they sound. How do you feel about the company’s products?
