RODE is taking firmware updates to the next level with a physical product update
July 29, 2025

- The Rode Wireless Micro now has a Wireless Micro Camera Adapter
- Rode is providing the Rode Wireless Camera Adaptor to existing Rode Wireless Micro owners
- The Rode Wireless Micro Camera Adapter is similar to the receivers of the Rode Pro, GO, and ME line
Typically, when a product gets an update, it’s a software update. Sometimes you get new features, and other times you get bug fixes. Rode has decided to update their current Wireless Micro line due to community feedback. Originally, the Rode Wireless Micro was limited to only being used on your phone. They have announced the Rode Wireless Micro Camera Receiver. This now lets you use the Rode Wireless Micro with a camera through the regular TRS cable.
The most ridiculous part about it is that Rode is giving owners of the Rode Wireless Micro the Micro Camera Adapter free of charge. All you have to do to receive one if you’ve already bought it is to register your product on Rodes’ website. Most companies would charge extra for the increase in versatility, but Rode doesn’t seem to have that sentiment. I’m glad and surprised that Rode is willing to put the customers first. Even if it costs them more than the bill of materials and shipping for the product. Rode still had to develop the tech, which cost a lot of research and development funds. Not that they were going to waste the effort they had already put into their previous products.
The shape and size are similar to those who use other Rode products, such as the Pro, GO, and ME microphone lines. The Rode Wireless Micro Receiver also has similar features to the rest of the Rode lineup without the screen. Instead, they have an LED strip that indicates the microphone status and settings of the receiver. You still get the ability to adjust the gain of the microphone, connect 2 microphones to the receiver, with left and right separated channels or a merged audio mode, automatic power detection, and is compatible with Rode’s suite of companion apps.
