Razer just turned my favorite Pokémon into a gaming headset and I’m lowkey okay with it

I swore off buying novelty headsets. Swore. Yet here I am staring at Razer’s Kraken Kitty V2 Gengar Edition, and suddenly my wallet feels like it’s being drained by Night Shade.

Gengar, the grinning ghost who’s been photobombing nightmares since the ’90s, has now possessed Razer’s lineup. The black-and-purple design nails the vibe, with spectral RGB earcups and those unmistakable spikes that make it look like he’s perched right on your head, smirking at your K/D ratio.

Beneath the cosplay energy, it’s still a Kraken Kitty V2. On paper, you’re getting Razer’s TriForce 40mm drivers, 7.1 surround sound for positional audio, and the HyperClear cardioid mic tuned to cut background noise so your callouts don’t get drowned out. Nothing here reinvents the Poké Ball, but the feature set is solid enough that you won’t feel like you bought it just for the aesthetic — even if we all know that’s the real reason.

At $139.99, the Gengar Edition lands in that comfortable mid-tier sweet spot. Not exactly a rare candy splurge, but unique enough to flex on your setup. It’s rolling out now across the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Razer sells more Gengar accessories, including a mousepad and keyboard, but they are still exclusive to China.
