- Cost-cutting compromises throughout the design
- Estimated 6-hour battery life is below typical laptop standards

- Graphics performance is limited for more demanding tasks

- Solid, durable plastic construction with minimal flex

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i is a budget 14-inch 2-in-1 Windows laptop with a solid plastic chassis, good keyboard and display, and generous port selection. At $500 on sale, it offers reasonable value, but its poor battery life and aging processor limit its appeal compared to alternatives like the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i falls just short of offering a compelling package for the price. While it delivers solid build quality, a decent keyboard, and a good display, its critically poor battery life and aging processor make it difficult to recommend when alternatives like the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED offer better performance, superior battery life, and an OLED display for only $64 more.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i 14 Gen 7 is a solid budget laptop for students and light users who need Windows capability at an affordable price. While it suffers from short battery life and a wobbly display, its snappy keyboard, good display, and generous port selection make it a compelling alternative to Chromebooks for those requiring Windows software. At $500 on sale, it's an acceptable compromise for budget-conscious buyers.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook Plus is an excellent value at $499, delivering more functionality than expected for the price. While full of cost-driven compromises, it successfully handles mixed web, Android, and Linux workloads, making it suitable for mobile professionals and students who prioritize security and simplicity over cutting-edge performance.

The Lenovo Flex 5i Chromebook Plus is a well-constructed, affordable 2-in-1 Chromebook that delivers solid performance and a comfortable typing experience. While its battery life disappoints relative to Chromebook Plus specifications, it remains a great value for remote learning and basic productivity work at its $499 price point.
