After encountering some core value issues when they were bought in 2010, Munitio has become their own company once again and is back with a vengeance. Their new Kickstarter campaign promises a second coming of their successful Pro40 headphones, called the Pro30 wireless on-ear headphones. The new Pro30’s are a more portable version that drop the wires from the spec sheet, then include them in the box just in case the battery dies.

The new headphones will have slightly smaller 30mm drivers and a fairly standard 20Hz – 20 kHz frequency range. Built into the minimal industrial design, the Pro30’s have an aluminum-alloy adjustable headband and collapsible ear cups that make it easy to throw in a bag without needing to worry if they are going to get damaged or not. Munitio claims a rather wide range of 8 – 12 hours of battery life, but in case you forget to charge them they also come with the aforementioned 1.2m kevlar reinforced 3.5 mm audio cable. Munitio says that even though they haven’t included any details about the feature, there will also be touch controls on the ear cups that enable the listener to control their music wirelessly.

One of the more interesting aspects about this particular campaign is that they realized how hard it is to invest money in headphones you’ve never actually heard before. So in a Beats-style marketing move they assembled numerous engineers, DJ’s, and musicians to vouch for the companys previous headphones, the Pro40’s, and express their excitement for the new Pro30 wireless headphones. Unlike Beats which get famous musicians and athletes to be seen wearing the headphones, the people Munition got to vouch for them are certified audio professionals who seem genuinely excited for the next generation of their favorite pair of headphones.

With over a month left in the campaign at the time of this post and almost half of their $125,000 goal already met, the Munitio Pro30 on-ear headphones could be the next premium pair of Bluetooth headphones everyone talks about. If all goes according to plan, Munitio intends to begin shipping the product in August or September of this year. The retail price will be $299 but you can pre-order now save over $100, not including some sweet early bird specials that are still available on the campaign site.
