Logitech finally updates the ASTRO A20 lineup with the ASTRO A20 X

Logitech A20 X has a completely new design, now with RGB!

New to the product lineup is the A20 X, a successor to the old Astro A20 lineup. It has a new look this time, completely departing from the original A20 and the 2nd gen,  although it does look similar to Logitech’s G522 LIGHTSPEED gaming headset. The headset is now under 300 grams and has an adjustable suspension-style fabric headband. Despite the RGB lights on the earcups, Logitech claims the battery life to be 40 hours with the RGB illumination, and 90 hours without. The microphone can be detached and includes a mute light in case you forget to unmute yourself.

The A20 X streams audio from the dual base station, which can connect to two devices simultaneously. It’s compatible with Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC, making it easier to switch between gaming devices.

The A20 X also now has Bluetooth, instead of only Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology, which requires a USB connection. Swapping between Bluetooth and the base station is done with a press of a button on the headset. The same for swapping between the two devices connected to the dual base station.

There is now a 48KHz microphone and PRO-G drivers, which means that there are updated microphone and audio drivers. Both the headphones and microphone sounds are customizable. The microphone has Blue VO!CE customizability, while the headphone output has DSP to apply the EQ. Different EQs can be assigned for Bluetooth and LIGHTSPEED modes. This can be customized in the G HUB and G mobile app.

Logitech also claims to have reduced its climate impact by reducing packaging waste. Most of the boxes and packaging have less plastic and use Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper. The A20X is also designed with 27% post-consumer recycled plastic materials. All that has been done to help reduce their carbon impact by 20%. This is a much-appreciated upgrade.

The A20X is on Amazon for $179.99, $20 more than the G522 mentioned earlier; however, the G522 doesn’t have the same features as the Astro A20X.

A50 X McLaren Racing edition, a colab that creates a new colorway on an existing product

Logitech A50X McLaren Racing Edition.
Logitech A50 X McLaren Racing Edition brings in a new papaya colorway.

The A50x originally only came in black and white. Now, in collaboration with McLaren, Logitech produces a new colorway, with both the headset and basestation in McLaren’s Papaya Orange. There are no new features on the A50X McLaren Racing Edition headset. It does stand out loudly. This is a great option for those who love a lot of color in their peripherals. Given the number of colors in the A10 series, I’m hoping for one or two more color ways.

The A50 X McLaren Racing Edition headset costs $429.99, $30 more than the regular ASTRO A50 X LIGHTSPEED.
