JLab unveils Crasher XL speaker with IPX6 rating
JLab isn’t a legacy company like Sennheiser, but they’ve been getting attention lately for all the right reasons lately. Their wireless earbuds put them on the map in a very meaningful way, and now they’re adding a Bluetooth speaker to their line-up. The Crasher XL is their newest and largest speaker perfect for the beach or pool. Here in the US the weather is getting a little colder. But if you’re in a warm climate it’s always a good time for a new waterproof speaker.
Inside the 30 Watt speaker you’ll find a single high-fi driver along with two lo-fi drivers and two passive radiators. You also won’t have to worry about water thanks to an IPX6 splashproof rating. This means that it can survive splashes by the pool, beach, or even rinsing it under a sink without damage. That said, this isn’t submergible so you might not want to get too carried away. Still, the Crasher XL is durable in other ways. It has an all-metal body that protects from any accidental drops and dings as well.
Unfortunately, battery life isn’t too impressive spec’d at only about 13 hours but it’s still enough for an average day at the beach. Up top are all the playback controls you’ll need for controlling music without having to touch your phone. You can pause/play music, skip between tracks, control volume, and answer or end phone calls up to 30 feet away from your source device. It also has a ¼” threaded screw hole so that you can attach it to mounts and tripods should you choose to. If you’re more interested in the gritty details these are the specs you’ll find:
- One Hi-Fi Neodymium Drivers (1 ¾ inches, 10 watts)
- Two Lo-Fi Drivers (2 inches, 10 watts)
- Two Passive Subwoofers
- IPX6 Rating
- Bluetooth 4.0 with 30-foot range
- .62 lbs., 7¼x2.62×1.13 inches
- Frequency Range: 85-20KHz
As an added bonus, every purchase of the Crasher XL comes with 3 months of free Pandora One. If you’re ready to add a JLab Crasher XL to your life you can pick one up for $99 in blue and gunmetal gray.
