JBL is balancing size and power with its latest PartyBox speakers

- JBL has opened US sales of the PartyBox 330 and PartyBox 130 portable speakers.
- Both models offer an RGB lightshow, multiple wired and wireless connectivity options, and all-day battery life.
- The PartyBox 330 is selling for $629.95, while the PartyBox 130 can be yours for $449.95.
Some people just need to show up, and their presence alone is enough to get the party started. But for those of us who need a little extra help, a nice, beefy party speaker can be just the ticket for turning a low-key hang into the next can’t-miss event. JBL’s already got a bunch of great PartyBox options, and right now we’re learning about two new models going up for sale in the US.
JBL first announced the PartyBox 330 and PartyBox 130 last month. When you don’t need the absolute largest PartyBox speaker solution available, these two present a couple nice options that are a whole lot more portable than some of the company’s behemoths, while still packing enough audio “oomph” (and a dazzling lightshow to go with it) to keep your guests entertained.

The PartyBox 330 offers 280W RMS total output, delivered through a pair of 6.5-inch woofers and a set of 25mm PEN dome tweeters. The PartyBox 130, meanwhile, maxes out at 200W RMS output power, shrinks those woofers down to 5.75 inches, and goes with silk dome tweeters.
Either way, you’ve got music for hours, with the PartyBox 330 running for up to 18 hours on a charge, and the 130 a respectable 15 hours. Even when that runs down, just 10 minutes of fast charging will extend those times by up to another 2 hours or 80 minutes, respectively. There’s even the option to swap out for a replacement battery.
IPX4 ratings mean that both speakers can survive water splashes, and built-in handles should make it easy to set them up wherever you want. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 6.0 and Auracast on the wireless side, and 3.5mm analog, optical in, and USB-C lossless wired hookups. There’s even support for guitars and microphones, should you be dealing with a live band (or some friends with a penchant for karaoke).
The JBL PartyBox 330 is available for pre-order on Amazon for $629.95, or you can grab the PartyBox 130 for just $449.95.
