The first step to fix the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) is to do a factory reset. It’s the easiest quick option for troubleshooting. To factory reset the earbuds, repeat the following steps three times in a row:

  1. Open the case and leave the earbuds inside the case.
  2. Press and hold the button on the back of the case for 25 seconds.
  3. The earbuds’ status light blinks white 2 times, slowly pulses blue, and then turns off.

Once you complete the above steps three times, the status link will blink amber for three seconds, and then it will slowly blink blue to indicate a factory reset.

Normally, when opening the case next to an Android phone, it will automatically be detected. If it doesn’t show up, you’ll have to move to manual pairing mode. To pair and connect the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen), follow these steps:

  1. Open the case and leave the earbuds inside the case.
  2. Press and hold the button on the back of the case until the earbuds’ status light slowly pulses blue.
  3. On your device, access Bluetooth settings, and you might need to scan for new devices. Select the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds under the list of available devices.

If the earbuds still aren’t connecting, make sure that the case and earbuds have a charge. Opening or closing the case will have the indicator light flash white. The inside indicator light shows the charging status of the earbuds. If the earbuds themselves do not seem to charge, follow the steps below:

  1. Take the earbuds out of the charging case and check the charging pads on the earbuds.
  2. Remove any dirt or debris from the charging pads.
  3. Check the inside of the case to make sure there are no obstructions between the earbuds and the charging pads.
  4. Get rid of any obstruction to the charging pads.

If you’re having issues with how the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds sound, chances are it’s a fit issue. To change and clean the eartips and fins of the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen). Follow these steps:

  1. Before changing the tips and fins, make sure there isn’t anything blocking the nozzle.
  2. Clean the grill by taking off the eartips and washing the eartips.
  3. To remove the eartip, flip over the eartip, grip the base, and pull firmly. The base of the eartip has a solid ring that fits over the nozzle.

If nothing works and you’re still having issues with your Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2, you may want to check with technical support or initiate a return. Chances are you’ll need to provide the serial number. You can access the serial number through the app. The serial number can be found with the steps below.

  1. Connect the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra (Gen 2) to your phone.
  2. Open the Bose app. You may have to download it from either the Google Play Store, the Apple App Store.
  3. Select the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra (Gen 2).
  4. Tap the gear icon in the top right corner.
