Beats Powerbeats Fit vs Beats Powerbeats Pro 2: Which workout earbuds should you buy?
October 21, 2025

Beats dropped two very different takes on workout earbuds in 2025: the more affordable Powerbeats Fit and the feature-stacked Powerbeats Pro 2. We put both through our SoundGuys lab tests and daily training to see which pair actually belongs in your gym bag.
This article was originally published on October 21, 2025, and this is the first version.
What’s it like to use the Powerbeats Fit compared to the Powerbeats Pro 2?
I appreciate the Powerbeats Fit’s compact, stemless design and silicone wingtips for locking the earbuds in place. They stay put on runs, but the single wingtip size is a gamble for some ears, and the physical button jabs the earbuds deeper when you press it. Both pairs are IPX4, but that’s it—no dust rating and not waterproof.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 lean into security with earhooks that simply don’t budge. I never had slippage in workouts. The trade-off: I feel some pressure behind the ear after a few hours. Beats includes five ear tip sizes (XS–XL), which helped me dial in a tight seal. The case is still big, but it’s meaningfully smaller than the first-gen and now pocketable in most pants.
Do the Powerbeats Fit or Powerbeats Pro 2 have more features?

If you live in Apple’s world, both hook cleanly into iOS: quick pairing, Control Center toggles, Settings-level customization, and Find My. On Android, both use the Beats app for core tweaks, battery info, and a fit test. The Pro 2 go further with Apple’s H2 chip integrations, Spatial Audio options, and—headliner—on-ear heart-rate monitoring. I matched readings closely with an Apple Watch, and you can share data to third-party fitness apps and gym equipment. It only tracks during workouts and doesn’t replace a full fitness tracker.
The Powerbeats Fit bring ANC and Spatial Audio access on iOS and Find My, but they skip the heart-rate sensor and any advanced AirPods Pro 3 tricks like live translation or hearing aid features. Neither pair offers a user EQ; the Pro 2 use Adaptive EQ, while the Fit give you no native EQ at all. Overall, the Pro 2 pack notably more useful workout features.
How do the Powerbeats Fit and Powerbeats Pro 2 connect?
The Powerbeats Fit run Bluetooth 5.4 with SBC and AAC. After I paired them to one Apple device, they auto-appeared across my iCloud gear, and they support fast pairing on Android. Connections stayed stable during testing.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 use Bluetooth 5.3 and Apple’s H2 chip for instant pairing, automatic switching, Audio Sharing, hands-free Siri, and Find My. They also stick to SBC/AAC and don’t support Bluetooth Multipoint. If you bounce between Apple and non-Apple gear, plan to manually manage pairing—especially if you also broadcast heart rate to fitness equipment.
Is battery life better on the Powerbeats Fit or Powerbeats Pro 2?
In our test, the Powerbeats Fit lasted 7 hours, 10 minutes on a charge with ANC on, and up to 30 hours including the case. Fast Fuel gives about 1 hour of playback from 5 minutes on the cable.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 are rated for up to 10 hours per charge (ANC off) and up to 45 hours with the case (ANC off). I routinely made it through a full day of heavy use. The Pro 2 charge via USB-C and support wireless charging, which reduces dead-battery anxiety.
Do the Powerbeats Fit or Powerbeats Pro 2 block noise better?

Our isolation data puts the Fit at a 63% reduction without ANC and 82% with ANC. In practice, I still hear office chatter and typing with ANC on unless I turn up the music, though transparency mode sounds very natural when I need to stay aware.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 average an 83% reduction with ANC—right in line with strong performers—and I found gym hum and street noise melt away with music playing. Transparency on the Pro 2 is excellent and lifelike, very close to wearing nothing.
Do the Powerbeats Fit sound better than the Powerbeats Pro 2?

Most people will find both “fine for workouts,” but the tuning philosophies differ. I don’t love the Powerbeats Fit’s sound; details in the mids and upper treble sit too low, so I nudge volume up to pull vocals and cymbal sheen forward, and the stage feels narrow. The Pro 2 aim for an energetic, bass-and-treble-forward profile that suits high-BPM training, though they still won’t satisfy audiophiles.

The Powerbeats Fit emphasize sub-bass below 100Hz, then under-emphasize upper bass and mids (100–900Hz), add lots of treble detail around 2–7kHz, and roll off in the upper treble. The Pro 2 also under-emphasize 500–900Hz, significantly boost around 5–7kHz, and show a steep drop above 8kHz. Both sound darker up top due to that high-treble falloff; the Pro 2 present a punchier “U-shape,” especially with ANC off, while the Fit can feel thin in the mids with a boxy top end.
Do the Powerbeats Fit or Powerbeats Pro 2 have a better microphone?
The Powerbeats Fit microphones are mediocre. You can make out voices, but clarity isn’t great, and they struggle to suppress office, street, and wind noise. I wouldn’t rely on them for calls on the go.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 mics depend on your device. Paired to an iPhone, they cancel background noise well and sound solid; on a PC, they’re more vulnerable to wind and environmental noise. If calls matter, the Pro 2 paired to iOS win comfortably.

Powerbeats Fit vs Powerbeats Pro 2: Price and availability
The Powerbeats Fit launched September 30, 2025, at $199.99 at Amazon. The Powerbeats Pro 2 launched February 11, 2025, at $249 at Amazon. You’re paying a premium for the Pro 2’s earhooks, H2 integrations, ANC performance parity with better transparency, heart-rate monitoring, and longer rated battery life.
Should you get the Powerbeats Fit or the Powerbeats Pro 2?

If you want the best workout experience, get the Powerbeats Pro 2. They fit more securely, block noise a bit better in practice, integrate deeply with iOS, add heart-rate tracking for training, and deliver longer battery life with modern charging. I enjoy using them more for actual workouts.
Pick the Powerbeats Fit only if you want to save money and still get ANC plus cross-platform basics. Just know you’re trading away heart-rate features, multipoint, more comprehensive fit options, and some polish in sound, mics, and controls. For most athletes—and especially iPhone users—the Powerbeats Pro 2 justify the extra spend.
