There are several ways a soundbar can connect to your TV, but the right method for you depends on the model you have. For example, many soundbars even a couple years old will have a physical cable input like an S/PDIF optical cable input, RCA inputs, or TRS (labelled “Aux”) inputs. If your TV has a corresponding port on its back: use that!
However, newer soundbars—and cheaper ones—tend to rely heavily on their wireless tech. Should that be the case, you’ll need to run through the TV’s menus in order to determine if it’s even compatible with your system, as anything below Bluetooth 4.1 with aptX Low-latency won’t work quite as well as you might hope.
Be sure that Bluetooth is enabled on both the TV and your soundbar before proceeding, and then follow the same basic steps you would to pair anything else to your soundbar. For a visual guide, Vizio has a decent video on the subject.
