Meet the Pure Contour D1 - the world's first radio dock with Bluetooth streaming
Pure, a UK-based electronics company that focuses on audio, has just announced the Pure Contour D1. The unit combines digital radio, a dock for iPhones, iPods and iPads, and Bluetooth, allowing for streaming audio from any device of your choosing. This marks the first time that Bluetooth streaming has been available in such a device.
While the dock only supports Apple devices, Nick Hucker, director of marketing for Pure makes sure to point out that “Contour D1 offers the best possible flexibility for all the family with the choice of docking old or new Apple models, listening to a wide variety of digital radio stations or playing music wirelessly from the comfort of the sofa regardless of Android or Apple ownership” in the press release announcing the D1.
The unit, which currently only appears to be available in the U.K., will cost £149.99. While you can get a standard dock / speaker combo for far less, it won’t have Bluetooth, and it likely won’t be as stylish. Pure also adds value in the form of the Pure Connect app, available for both iOS and Android, which offers access to more than 20,000 internet radio stations, not to mention over “200,000 free on-demand programmes and podcasts.”
The Pure Contour D1 is available now via select retailers, and via Amazon.co.uk.
