The latest company to offer wireless earbuds via Kickstarter claims they will offer more than just great sound from your smartphone. Fiil Technology says its Carat Pro earbuds can also track a user’s fitness stats and more.

Inside the case of the Carat Pro is an in-ear heart rate monitor, which Fiil says will give users data with “incredible accuracy”.  Combined with the company’s Smart FIIL+ app, the earbuds will be able to provide information based on five exercises (walking, running, yoga, biking and indoor training). In addition to heart rate, the Carat Pro will send info on calories burned, speed, total steps, and more.

The earbuds will have what the company is calling Speed Dependent Sound (SDS) effects. It will turn up the bass and other sounds in a song when a person needs to speed up his or her exercise pace and slow down the pace when the owner needs to cool off.

Aside from the fitness features, the Carat Pro will also be able to store songs inside the earbuds, and users can play any tune they have stored with voice commands. The earbuds are supposed to last up to nine hours on a single charge.

The Kickstarter campaign is offering people a chance to donate $169 for the chance for an “early bird” price for the Carat Pro. Assuming it reaches its goal of $50,000 in the next 39 days, shipments of the earbuds are scheduled to begin in June 2017.
