Theatre Box

Consumer electronic company Acemile has announced a Bluetooth speaker called the Theatre Box that they say will provide 360 degrees of sound. It is currently only available through the Amazon exclusives online store, so good luck finding it at your local Best Buy.

The speaker itself is sporting Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX so that you can stream high quality audio if you need to. If you favor an easier method of connecting than Bluetooth the Theatre Box also comes with NFC for compatible devices. Besides that, It utilizes four 2-inch drivers that handle the mids and high-end while the low end is taken care of by a single 3-inch driver. The Theatre Box has a built-in lithium ion battery that Acemile claims will give you around 20 hours of constant playback, so you can have a Star Wars marathon (around 15 hours) and still have some juice left over.

If you’re wondering how large the device is it’s dimensions are around 10-inches x 3 -inches x 4-inches, so if you’re looking to carry it around it shouldn’t be too much of a struggle assuming you have a bag to throw it in. Up top there are also playback controls but the play/pause button seems to be missing. However, controlling the volume, skipping tracks, or answering calls shouldn’t be a problem with the other control buttons.

Normally multiple speakers need to be positioned strategically around a room in order to get the full immersive experience, but that’s not the case with the Theatre Box. How does it create 3D sound? With a new technology called Q3D Holophony which creates layers of continuous sound they refer to as sound bubbles. This allows the listener to be surrounded by sound regardless of where they are in the room.

Acemile is currently having a Mother’s day promotion that bring the price of the Theatre Box down to $255 (normally $299), so if you want to save some money make sure to pick yours up before the promotion ends on May 11th. It is currently only available in black and blue, but they also have red and white models coming in the future so keep an eye for those as well.
